Option to show IPA transcriptions above words#39

M

It would be useful to add an Option to show IPA transcriptions of a word after double click or hovering it with the mouse.

The International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) is a valuable tool for language learners that could be implemented using the data from Wiktionary.

Wiktionary IPA transcriptions are plenty and very accurate for French, German and English (>500.000 words for each language). There are several scripts to extract IPA transcriptions from Wiktionary dumps. The CopyLeft nature of that data would allow its integration with “ElReader”.

Recently I extracted all the IPA transcriptions for German using the later script. A total of 676.294 phonetic transcriptions ! Download: https://mega.nz/file/cVg1iAKJ#xB_qoctX9eYaD5JDfiqLnYh4PWKdpEOL_J4fkBGubFY

Hey @Marco, thanks for the feedback.

Some of other early adopters also asked this feature but still it’s not among the most requested features. So I would suggest to wait a little bit more to see what other users think about it.

Btw also thanks for the resources.
